Itchy Bloody Scalp Sores With Discharge. No Relief From Bacitracin And Cortisone

Hello. Just wondering about scalp sores. I started with one and being a general picker, I picked at it and now I have several of them around my scalp. They get thick scabs, hurt and itch. I pick and clear liquid comes out and then blood. Sometimes it feels a little thicker liquid and sticky. I have used bacitracin with not much success and have also used some cortisone cream. Nothing seems to be helping. What else can I try to get these sores taken care of???

Hi,
I can understand your concern for the itchy bloody scalp sores with discharge.

After reading your history I can make out the possibility of seborrhea with secondary infection of the area. If this is raised and causing flaking with maceration of skin along with map like appearance then this is the best possibility.

For infection, I suggest you to apply plane antibiotic cream such as mupirocin. Do not apply any mixed cream or mixed ointments as it causes further aggravation of the problem.

Do not pinch, pop or scratch the area. Keep the area dry and wear cotton clothes. Change the clothes two time a day. Do not get exposed to extremes of environment and protect yourself from heat and humidity.
Take care.
