Is Weight Gain After Quitting Smoking A Matter Of Concern?

I quit smoking 11 weeks ago. I had smoked for 45 years. It was relatively easy to quit. I just read an article that said that ease in quitting smoking can be sign of lung cancer. As soon as I quit smoking, breathing and mucus problems disappeared. I feel fine. I am 58, 5-feet-seven-inches and weighed about 130 pounds before I quit. I know I have gained weight, but not exactly how much. (Clothes are tighter) Should I worry?

Hello
Welcome to healthcare magic,
Well first thing is that quitting smoking is a good thing despite any age , any age, anywhere, and this is no fact that if you gave up easily you are suffering from a lung cancer, may be you did not develop too much addiction all those years. Also a little bit of increase in weight can be seen in some people, although its good, that indicates anabolism , so you shouldn't worry about anything and keep up the good habit to stay away from nicotine use in any form.If there are any other symptoms , you can write back to me anytime or you can close the discussion and rate me.
Regards,
Dr. Rohit Singh
