Is There Any Safe Medications That Can Be Taken For Migraines During Pregnancy?
Is there any safe migraine meds to take during pregnancy? I have tension headaches that turn into migraines if i don't take tramadol w/ tylenol at the onset of it. If I let it go it turns into a full blown migraine then I have to take maxalt. I just found out a week ago that i am pregnant. Luckly I haven't needed any meds so far but the thought of getting another migraine and not being able to have any relief is scary! I get them so bad I throw up for days. Thankfully I don't always have them every month but when they hit it can be days of pain.
Hello, I would be happy to help you with your question.
It is always possible that the headaches will change their pattern during pregnancy and not be as much of an issue. The only medication that is considered acceptable in pregnancy is Tylenol. The typical migraine medications such as Maxalt are avoided during pregnancy. In many cases, it is acceptable to use narcotics as needed, but you need to discuss this with your doctor.
I hope that this helps and good luck!
