Is Neosporin An Effective Cream To Treat Itchy Rashes And Pimples In Bottocks Area?

I had a stomach bug for a few days and last week and i must have gone number 2 like 4-5 times each day for 2 days. I felt so raw down there that i had a little cut from all the whipping i guess. A day later i noticed i was really itchy down there. The following day after that i did some long holiday shopping and when i got home it was very uncomfortable. I thought i was a rash of some sort, like chaffing. i then started feeling feverish that night. the following morning i still felt feverish and there was a small cluster of pimply stuff that didn't really itch as much as it did sting to the touch. VERY sensitive. and painful. I tried to keep the area as clean as possible and use creams like neosporin, A&D ointment, coritzone cream ( which made it really sting more painfully). none of the creams really did anything. After 2 - 3 days of using them and no more fever symptoms, the only thing that makes it feel any better is when there is nothing on it. just making sure that area stays as clean as possible at all times. it has been about one week since i had these uncomfortable painful pimply rash things around my anus and the inside of my butt cheeks. it is very sensitive to the touch and painful still. I thought i may have been that the cut got infected and some kind of rash spread, but am not sure. Any suggestions of what it might be or how i can treat it? thank you

Hello and welcome to HCM,

Your history of painful vesicles and fever points towards

1) folliculitis : due to infection of hair follicles. Apply topical antibiotics like fusidic acid or mupirocin. put warm compresses over the lesion. Also you can contact a physician and get oral antibiotics like ciprofloxacin prescribed. For pain and fever take ibuprofen.

If the above measures dont help there is a possibility that it could be :

2) herpes zoster.
I would suggest you to contact a dermatologist as soon as possible and get the course of antiviral like acyclovir.
