Is Lymphoma Associated With Ulcerated Lymph Node?
My 16 month old daughter has a large lump on the right side of her neck. She has been to the doctor who admitted her to the hospital because her white cell count was very high and she had a high fever. They had her on IV antibiotics for 3 days and when I brought her home we gave her the prescription of Augmentin for 10 days. In that 10 days the lump in her neck doubled in size. We just saw a Hematologist/Oncologist Monday and he ordered blood work, a skeletal survey, and a surgical biopsy. Her lump however is now turning bright red and very hot. Could it be becoming ulcerated? The specialist believes she has Lymphoma. Would the lymph node becoming ulcerated be a symptom?

She may have enlarged cervical lymphnode. It can be due to reactive hyperplasia, tuberculosis or lymphoma. If her white blood cells count is high and doctors suspecting lymphoma then she should go for fine needle aspiration cytology or biopsy of that lump. Ulceration occur in any lesion so it is not diagnostic. Go for biopsy.
It will give you exact diagnosis.
Then you should take treatment accordingly.
