Is It Safe To Take Birth Control Pills For Short Term For Pre Menopause And Proliferative Endometrium?

iam 46 and had a uterine biopsy done 2 weeks ago for irregular periods and lack of periods blood work showed post menopause 6 months ago now it shows pre menopause OB believes its proliferative endometrium. wants to try birth control said it might be a short term fix. Iam confused short term for what?

Thanks for posting in HCM.
Firstly,Endometrial proliferation is not normal in peri menopausal state.but it can be controlled by birth control pills for short term.Endometriosis means proliferation of endometrium due to un opposed action of oestrogen.it will cause symptoms like excessive bleeding and pain in future.there is a condition called metropathica hemorhagica where amennorea follows menorhagia in perimenopausal state.so inorder to avoid this you should use hormone replacement therapy which has progesterone,, oestrogen antagonists ,so that they will decrease proliferation of endometrium.if you dont take treatement at this stage this will lead to severe bleeding in near future so kindly consult a gynecologist.thank you.
