Is It Safe To Take Fluoxetine For Sore Throat And Sinus?

Hi, I started taking Fluoxetine 10mg today. I just had one capsule at noon with my lunch. Now I have a kind of sore throat and sinus pain. I can t sleep either. Are these normal? should I stop taking this medicine and go back to my Dr? or continue using it until things get back to normal?

Hi Dear ,

As per your query you have sore throat and sinus problem . As such fluoxetine not know to cause any harm in case of sore throat or sinus problem . But in some cases it is known to cause allergic reaction and can complicate the problem . I would suggest you to consult the ENT specialist and discuss the situation . Doctor may order certain test and confirm the diagnosis . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics ( amoxicillin ) , and decongestant . For now do warn saline gargles .
