Is It Safe To Have Pills To Delay Period When Had Extra Bleeding During Mid Cycle?
I am going on holiday and have some pills from GP to delay my period, however I had extra bleeding midway cycle in may.. This has only happened once...I am waiting to have hysteroscopy to see if cause is polyps... Is it safe to still take pills to delay period?
You can safely take birth control pills for postponement of menses. You have to start the pills, daily one, at least 7 days before the expected day of menses. Continue pills till you want the periods to be started. Once you discontinue the pills, you will get the withdrawal bleeding within 4-7 days.
If you are late in starting the pills, you can start double the dose up to minimum 3 days prior to the expected day of menses.
However, please get hysteroscopy done at the earliest and sort out your polyp problem lest the risk of heavy bleeding.
I hope, this gives you appropriate guidance.
