Is It Safe To Give Ibuprofen For Fever Of About 101.7?

My 5 year old daughter woke up shaking saying she was freezing cold, she had 97.1 temp. Breathing very hard as if she ran a marathon. The room temperature was 77, so it wasn t cold room and she had blanket over. Normally she takes blankets off in the middle of night. Any ways I gave her a doses of acetaminophen. I received her from her mother a day before with rough voice which she alleges from singing, but she had a little fever last night before bed 101. So I gave her acetaminophen alternate with ibuprofen every 4 hours, today she took a 2 hour nap. But fine during the day, so I didn t give her more meds, she did not eat very well, beef soup and a kids pasta for dinner. Since I been typing, she has 101.7 seem physically stable. No more shivering instead just took her clothes off and changed to a lighter pajama. Her body is warm. She is up now watching a movie.

Hi...Thank you for consulting in Health Care magic.
Fever of few days without any localizing signs could as well a viral illness. Usually rather than fever, what is more important is the activity of the child, in between 2 fever episodes on the same day. If the kid is active and playing around when there is no fever, it is probably viral illness and it doesn't require antibiotics at all. Once viral fever comes it will there for 4-7 days. So do not worry about duration if the kid is active.
Paracetamol can be given in the dose of 15mg/kg/dose every 4-6th hourly that too only if fever is more than 100F. I suggest not using combination medicines for fever, especially with Paracetamol.
DO NOT GIVE IBUPROFEN AS IT CAN LOWER PLATELET ACTION AND IF IT IS A VIRAL HEMORRHAGIC FEVER, IT CAN BE DELETERIOUS.
