Is It Possible To Develop Allergic Reaction (to Certain Food) After Undergoing DVH, Uterus And Cervix Removal?

I m 3 weeks post op DVH, uterus & cervix removed. Doing well until last night when I started to have rashes on my arm like hives. I had seafood cioppino for dinner, that s all. It had oysters & shrimps. I wasn t allergic to this dish before. How all of a sudden I seem to have a reaction to it now? Should I go to ER?

I am not aware of any connection between getting a hysterectomy and developing a new food allergy. It is quite curious why you would suddenly develop an allergy to something that hasn't been a problem for you before. It is possible that there was some other product in the food that you haven't been exposed to, or maybe it was a different species of fish that you haven't had before. I doubt you need to go to the ER unless the symptoms are severe and it seems to be causing shortness of breath as well. You can just take over the counter benadryl, and wait and see if it gets better. Than you can see your doctor tomorrow and discuss what to do next. Avoid the food that seems to have been the culprit, and check the ingredients for things that might be different about the food. I hope this helps, please let me know if you have any moire questions.
