Is it ok to go for swimming during period ?

Is it ok to go swimming during your period WITHOUT a tampon? My mom won t let me use one, and I m pretty light. If people say that your periods don t stop in the water, why does my period stop when I take a shower? Can I use a light pad while swimming?

yup, i have very heavy periods and i go swimming all the time with a tampon and without. Ur fine. Idk.. ive always wondered why it stops when im showering.
