Is Hypothyroidism Related With Hair Loss?

I suffer from Hypothyroidism , can this be the same problem with my son , he is 26 and has a lot of hair loss ,can see the scalp .My uncles are bald now he is stressed out to see his scalp any method to apply or eat to grow back his hair , feel sorry for him.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Androgenetic alopecia is the most common cause of hair loss in males, specially if there is a family history. I suggest him to use Minoxidil 5 %solution, twice daily. In addition I suggest an oral Finasteride tab once a day for long. Both of these are approved remedies for androgenetic alopecia in males. These are prescription medications and I advice you to kindly talk to your local practitioner for a prescription of the same.
