Is Abdominal Pain A Side Effect Of Petogen Inspite Of An Unprotected Sex

Hi doc, i had unprotected sex and i went to a local clinic for a morning after pill , they gave me oralcon and they asked me to take four pills and take another four pills in 12hours and they injected me Petogen for birth control .... its been a week now and i haven't had my periods and i keep having abdominal pains that fade away within a minute, is it because of the Petogen injection or should i worry that i might be pregnant?

thanks.

Hi and welcome to HCM.
Petogen is a very effective long acting contraceptive. Some changes in menstrual bleeding pattern or irregular menstrual bleeding can be expected for virtually all women who undergo contraceptive therapy with petogen injection.

The irregular and prolonged bleeding that you are having and abdominal pains could be related to the injection Petogen that you have had.

You have taken emergency contraceptive pills also. Your period will be late and its normal.

Other side effects of petogen that you may experience include: skin reactions, weight gain, and pain. Less common side effects include: change in sex drive, depression, nervousness, dizziness, nausea, change of appetite, headaches, skin rash or spotty darkening of the skin, sore breasts, hair loss and/or increased hair on the face or body.
If it is very uncomfortable or if you experience sudden heavy bleeding, please consult your doctor immediately

Dr Santosh
