Infant Having Running Nose, Goopy Eyes. Given Calpol. Rashes All Over Back, Stomach And Forehead. Viral Infection?

Hi, I have an 11 month old girl who has had a runny nose, goopy eyes for about 5 days now she had a fever on a couple of nights which has now disappeared with calpol. She now has a rash all over her back and stomach and forehead and a little cough, we have been told its a viral infection as the rash disappears when pressed and with viral infections they get a rash as the body fights off the infection. I wanted to know if this is true please?

Hi,

Yes

In Virus infections the rash is differentiated from purpuric spots by pressing and seeing whether they disappear.

Also many viruses other than measles can present with rash.

So watch out for a few days.

God bless
