Yes 18 year olds can have heart attacks, but they are rare and usually the result of a heart defect...sometimes not detected... Recently with childhood obesity there has been a lot of concern re: heart attacks and type II diabetes in teenagers. If you have any concerns at all that you are having a heart attack, go to emergency. It is probably not a heart attack if you are 18....but it is not impossible.... The chance of dying from a heart attack usually depends on how quickly you get to the hospital...and how severe the attack is... heart attacks that are not resulting from a heart defect (which are rare) are almost always the result of life-style...bad diet, not enough exercise, overweight, smoking....stress (though I don't think stress alone causes heart attacks...in combination with the others, though,it can certainly be part of the problem....

Hi,Guruprasad,
Thanks for query,
Age is no bar for heart attach.at any age attach can come.
Stress.hereditary, tension lack of physical activity are the factors playing important role.
In attach diagnosed in time and taken treatment immediately chances of mortality is very less.
Do regular exercise like running, swimming for about 30-40 mnt.daily.
if there is high bp or diabetes, keep under control.
Ok and bye.
