Hello,

Do not worry menthol rub may be hypersensitive your pharyngeal mucosa which may be irritated and giving pain. Even drinking cool /hot water gives pain. It will subside with in few days. Till then, avoid spicy food and alcohol.

If it is contain camphor, means ingestion lead to side-effects like especially muscle twitching, seizures, nausea or vomiting. If above symptoms occur, please consult your physician/Emergency room, they will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
