How To Treat Swelling In Tonsils?

Hello there. So I have benn having my tonsils a little swollen for the past four days. Prior to that I did catch a cold so i had sore throat. But I knew it was gone I just was not sure why my tonsils had gotten swollen. I did a water and salt gargle yesterday which atcually helped. I was wondering can I still drink cold drinks or beer. And also any recomendations on bringing the swelling down. Thanks ahead of time for ur help!

hello,
Antiinflammitory medication such as Tylenol and Advil may help reduce swelling. Alcohol can act as an irritant and dehydrate tissue. You want to remain well hydrated. Continue with warm salt water rinses and avoid alcohol, smoking and other irritants . You can give a bit more time to allow for healing especially if you had a viral infection. Keep in mind if you have a bacteria or a strep infection you may .require a prescription antibiotic. A simple Swab test may give you a proper diagnosis to allow for a prescription if needed.
Thank you for your inquiry. I hope you will feel better soon.
