Diabetologist 's  Response
Dear sir/madam i can understand your concern,
i would like to explain you about different kinds of diabetes
1.type 1 diabetes
2.type 2 diabetes
3.GDM(gestational diabetes )

in type 1 there will be absolute absence of insulin body so its mandatory to take insulin for rest of life

in type 2 during early days there will be sufficient insulin but it needs stimulation by medications to get released into blood and in later life they may need insulin.
so its important to know the status of pancreas before stopping insulin
for that you need to undergo a test called as C-peptide both fasting and stimulated it will give you the status of insulin in pancreas.

normal c-peptide level should be 0.5 to 2.0 nanograms per milliliter (ng/mL)

i suggest to discuss with your treating doc.
regards
