How Long Does It Take To Get Cleared From The Side Effects Of Taking Prednisone?

What is regarded as long term use of Prednisone? I have been taking 25mg twice daily for about 6 weeks now and am noticing weight gain and puffy face (but the medication is working well in its purpose). How long do the side effects take to go when you ease back from and then cease the medication?

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I a so sorry to hear about this fluid retention. This is a known and recognized side effect of prednisolone. Unfortunately, this seems to be interfering with the benefits you are reaping from the use of this medication. Generally, my clients who take prednisolone for more than 3-4weeks are considered long term. Side effects ease as soon as you stop the medication and gradually fate away over weeks.

I hope this helps. I wish you well and thank you so much for using our services. Feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
