The first social phobia disorder treatment involves going through cognitive behavioral therapy. This can be in the form of meeting with a therapist or using audio or textbook aids. In person therapy is often preferred over reading, but you need to be sure to find a therapist that you are comfortable with and has experience treating patients with social anxiety.

The second step to treating social phobia disorder is to use techniques at home. This can include methods such as meditation or abdominal breathing exercises. Other techniques for social anxiety include self-hypnosis and progressive muscle relaxation.

3.A third step to ending social phobia disorder is to learn how to control your negative thoughts. The reason you fear other people is because you taught your brain to fear social situations. In order to fix this, you need to counteract the negative thoughts with more productive and rational thinking. As soon as you feel your social anxiety kicking in and the thoughts start, you need to counter these thoughts with positive ones.
Psychiatrist Dr. Keerthish Shetty's  Response
hello Riyas,

Social phobia is a very common problem and assumes significance in the setting of college and work place. Unless it is treated properly, it can hamper performance.

The best way to manage such problems is to combine many available methods. Medication and relaxation exercises can take care of severe anxiety and its symptoms. Behaviour therapy in the form of systematic desensitization can help you overcome fear in a graded manner. Cognitive therapy can help you counter your negative/irrational thoughts. Social skills training can help increase your confidence and self esteem. It is advisable to consult a psychiatrist for more details.

Good to see that you yourself have done some homework and posted an answer to your own question.
