HI.
Just a few questions and comments on your partner's condition.
Is there any odynophagia or painful swallowing? Is the cough productive with phlegm, especially greeish color?
This may be an acute respiratory infection. There me an affectation on his larynx or voice box that is why he is having hoarseness of his voice.
I suggest that you give paracetamol 500mg 1 tablet every 4 hours as needed. An antibiotic like amoxicillin 500mg 1 tablet three times a day or coamoxiclav 625mg 1 tablet twice a day may be given. Just make sure that he has no known allergy to either drug. You may also offer him any antiseptic gargle.
I would love to hear from you for any follow-up question or update on his condition.
