Have Hypothyroidism. Lowered The Dose Of Levoxothyrin. Hair Dry, Started Falling, Thin And Unhealthy. How To Fix It?

Hello, I have hypothyroidism, and recently I went to a new endocrinologist and he lowered my dosage of levoxothyrin (I had been on the previous dose for a few years without any change). Afterwards, my hair got very dry and began falling out like crazy. I brought it up to him, and he had me do bloodwork and put me on an additional thyroid medication (to raise my t3? levels). After no change, I went back to my original dosage and quit taking the second medication. I saw a bit of a change (my hair was softer and not as dry) but it's still very thin and unhealthy seeming. Can you tell me what's going on and what I can do to fix this?

Hi,
Thanks for using Healthcaremagic,

You are known case of Hypothyroidism and taking Thyroxine supplementation, I presume regularly.

It is true that Hypothyroidism can cause rough and dry hair but if your Endocrinologist has reduced the dose there must be some reason mostly Thyroid lab work number is high.

Please do not change dose by yourself reason for rough hairs may be something else like other vitamin and nutritional deficiency or some infection like fungus or damage by hair products or even sun exposure.

You can visit a good Dermatologist to properly assess and treat your hairs and continue to take Thyroxine supplementation as advised.
Hope this information helps.

Take care.
Good Luck.
