Has Lost Weight. No Appetite And Vomits. No Energy, Back Pain And Teeth Falling. Cause?
My father has lost significant weight in a short period of time. For several weeks now he has had little to no appetite and what food he tries to eat he vomits. He has no energy and stays in bed 14 or 15hours a day because he is so week. He does drink tho, he is 65 and 130 lbs. What could be wrong? Oh also there is back pain and his teeth are falling out... Thanks!
Unintentional weight loss should be evaluated by a doctor. If your father is not trying to lose weight then he may want to consider visiting his doctor.
Unintentional weight loss can be related to different conditions such as : (1) high levels of thyroid hormone (2) chronic illnesses such as diabetes, conditions of the colon(3) cancer
His doctor would examine him and may suggest some investigations including full blood count ( to check for anemia), ESR ( identifies if there is any inflammation in the body), stool samples (checking for blood), thyroid function tests. Imaging tests may also be done.
I hope this helps
