Had Total Hysterectomy And Ovary Removed. Have Vaginal Dryness, Cut, Itching And Burning In Vagina. Advice?

I have had a total hysterectomy, then later had an ovary removed due to a 6 in cyst wrapped around my ovary and connected to my colon. I'm having trouble with vaginal dryness, I think. I have a cut in my vagina, and it itches and burns in my vagina and going toward my behind. HELP!!! Sex is non existent and it's really starting to make my husband angry. To make matters worse, I'm having back surgery at the end of the month and then I'm REALLY going to be out of comission!

Hello! Total hysterectomy is usually done for DUB (Dysfunctional Uterine Bleeding); Was your ovarian cyst benign? (Since you mention adhesion to colon). The general health of a person is important for proper sexual arousal; adequate fore-play is necessary for vaginal lubrication. Since one ovary is still intact sufficient estrogen will be produced in the same provided the menstrual cycles are normal - Do you have a history of Poly-Cystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)-? - Get an ultrasound of the remaining ovary to look for normal evolution of Graafian follicle to Corpus Luteum without cyst formation (significant for PCOS if there are multiple cysts of more than 3 cms size.) Vaginal dryness in estrogen deficiency/ peri-menopausal women is due to thinning of vaginal epithelium; K-Y jelly(or any water based gel) may be used for lubrication and any infection (protozoal - moniliasis, fungal - candidiasis or bacterial) causing non-specific vaginitis (resulting in itching/ burning sensation) must be treated.
