Had An Ulcer. Advised To Eat Papaya, Lean Meat And Drink Goat Milk. Now Experiencing Stomach Ache, Stool Is Hard. Medical Cure For This?
Hello, my friend has an ulcer and was recommended by a doctor to eat papaya and drink goat milk for one week. He also eating some lean meat (boiled chicken). It has been almost a week with this diet. Now he is experiencing stomach ache and his stool is hard and white in colour. Please advise if this is normal or we should be worried. Thank you
Ulcers in the stomach or intestines are diagnosed based on history of symptoms and investigations showing the ulcer. In addition a blood test may be done to determine if a bacteria called helicobacter pylori is involved in causing the ulcer.
Treatment normally involves the use of medication such as omeprazole, esomeprazole, lansoprazole. If the bacteria is present then antibiotics are needed to treat it.
The milk and papaya would not effectively treat an ulcer.
I hope this helps
