Had An Adverse Reaction To Remicade, Worse Flare Of Crohn S, Need To Try Humara. Is It Ok?

Hi I have recently had an adverse reaction to Remicade also having the worse flare of Crohns ever and now need to try Humara, finding out that I cant afford the copays! I have applied for funds with social security special funds for prescriptions and to the drug company Abott but I have heard nothing back and I need Humara yesterday- specialty pharmacy will not deliver without co-payment $2000!
Anyone have this problem? Cant wait for funds to maybe process having bad flare of Crohns.

Hello, thanks for contacting HCM. I know it is very hard to
stay in remission when you failed with Infliximab. I am sure
your doctor tried to alter the dosage or change the interval
between injections. But if that failed , Adalimumab (Humira)
can be effective. Again this is also a TNF (Tumor Necrosis Factor)
blocking drug given as injection under the skin at regular intervals.
As you already know , the drug is very expensive. I am glad that
you have contacted the drug company. They do have compassionate
programs to assist the needy and also based on income levels.
Hope you will hear from them soon. May be worth talking to a drug rep
from Abbot through your pharmacist. The other option is contacting
CCFA (Crohn's and Colitis Foundation Of America) and ask there help.
You really have to sit down with your gastroenterologist and discuss
in detail all the side effects , other drugs that you could use with it and
also about flu vaccination etc.
