Frequent Sweating At Night, Stabbing Pain While Urinating, At Least Once During Night. Suggestions?

I have an increasing frequency of sweating at night, from mild to drenching the sheets, I am a 70 yr old male, in pretty good physical condition, exercise regularly and have lost approx 55 lbs over the last year and a half. As a side note ,I do have issues with my prostate--urinate at least once during the night, often twice , and can experience stabbing pain during the daytime , but it doesn t last long. Any thoughts or suggestions--??

Hello
Loosing around 55 lbs in one and a half year is quite a big loss and if this is being accompanied by severe night sweats does raise enough suspicion to go for detailed investigations to find out the cause.
The most important causes could be
Chronic infections like tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS
Cancers like lymphoma.
Please do consult a physician and get yourself examined and investigated thoroughly.
Thanks

thank you. significant weight loss with drenching night sweat obviously have some pathology. have you fever, cough, back pain, poor appetite, bony pain or enlarged nodule at the neck or axilla?
at this old age, there are some possibilities like chronic leukemia, lymphoma, prostate malignancy or chronic infection(TB).
proper physical examination with some relative inv. as cbc,pbf,psa,x-ray of chest, usg of abdomen is needed to find out the cause.
