Flu Symptoms, Diarrhea After Taking Antibiotics For Tooth Infection. Should I Continue This?

I was prescribed an antibiotic for a bad infection caused by my impacted wisom teeth. I have to take a pill every 12 hours. I have 4 left and the extraction of the teeth is on Thursday (26th of sept.). I am getting severe flu symptoms from the Amoxicillin. I have been eating it with food but it makes me SO nauseas and I have horrible diarrhea. Should I just take my other 4 pills as prescribed? Or is this serious?

Hi Dear

Welcome to the platform of Health care magic.

Amoxicillin has nothing to do with flu.

But loose motions are important side-effect of amoxicillin.

I would have advised to add one probiotic (lactobacillus)and some PPI like omeperazole along with amoxicillin to take care of nausea and loose motions.

Oral Rehydarating solution should be added to take care of Dehydration.

At this juncture one can think of changing antibiotic considering the watery loose motions.

Apart from side effects of Amoxi we should also consider the concurrent GIT infection which may itself a cause of Nausea and horrible loose motion.

Hope the query is answered.

Thanks

Hi..
Thanks for the query..
Side effects like that with amoxycillin are common.
If the symptoms are severe you can stop the medicines and inform the same to your dentist so that he/she can change your medicine..
Take care...
