What Causes Fatigue,weakness And Dizziness?

I am 32, 5 4, 125, and in excellent health. I have been in Ghana for about 3 weeks. The week before last I felt fatigue, weakness and some dizziness. I moved very little and felt a bit better last week. 3 days ago, I began to feel very nauseous. I hiked about 20 min, felt sick the entire evening, then hiked 20 min back the next day and threw up 3 times along the way. Ever since I have felt extreme fatigue, weakness, disorientation, low ability to concentrate and dizziness. When laying in bed, I will start to feel better after a while, but the moment I get up and try to do anything all of my symptoms come back and i just want to lie down. I got all of my shots before going and then was tested for malaria and typhoid today and all came back negative (I was not tested for anything else). I have no appetite, but have been making myself eat and drink plenty so I can rule out dehydration or lack of food. I can t figure out what it is and if it s something I can wait out or something I must fix, but I ve felt bad for a while now. My anti-malaria medication is malarone.

Hello,

Your symptoms are indicative of indigestion, electrolyte imbalance, stress, all of which can be triggered due to developing lover problem. Sometimes, contaminated water may also trigger liver problems. You should take boiled water after cooling it. Since you are nauseous, take anti emetics to stop vomiting. You can take digestives and liver tonic to help your liver recover faster. Take adequate rest & avoid stress, both physical and emotional.

Taking adequate amount of water and fluids to maintain your electrolyte balance so that you don't feel dizzy and weak. Fatigue may be caused by low BP, anemia, lack of sleep, or thyroid dysfunction. Take quality sleep at night, stay at rest but do regular walking, do not exhaust yourself. Get T3, T4, TSH done to rule out thyroid problem. Get your liver clinically examined, get liver function tests done, imaging tests done to detect liver problem. You will be accordingly treated.

In the meantime to help digestion, take digestives, liver tonic & food that is good for the liver. Do not take oily, spicy junk food. Avoid full fat dairy products, red meat, refined flour, trans fat. Take home made boiled food, lean meat, small fish, well cooked whole cereals, veggies and fruits. You can take food cooked in olive oil after you start feeling better. Stay away from addictions if any.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
