Does Swollen Lymph Nodes In Neck And Swollen Thyroid Glands With Sore Indicate Flu?

My name is Jenna, I have swollen lymph nodes in my neck, a swollen thyroid gland, chills and aching all over and a very sore throat. My nose is clear with very little chest mucus. I aslo have 0 appetite. I have had my H1N1 shot, it was included in my flu shot this year as I live in Alberta. Is it likely that I just have a flu.

Hello

Welcome in H.C.M.

I have gone through your query regarding sore throat an d swollen thyroid along with enlarge neck lymph node.

As you said that you are having sore throat but your nose is O.K. and your thyroid and neck lymph node are enlarged, this favors toward acute thyroiditis and flu is unlikely as your nose is o.k.

But some times infection is going on without giving much symptoms and that can be rule out by thorough examination and necessary investigations. Therefore it will be a wise step to get yourself examined by your physician for confirmation and treatment.

Regards.
