Does Epilepsy Affect Sleeping Patterns?

I am wondering whether my epilepsy might be affecting my sleep patterns. Specifically, I've always had trouble waking up in the morning. Loud alarms don't help - it just seems to take me longer than most people to "switch on." Could it be related to epilepsy?

Hello! Welcome to HealthcareMagic!

You may require a SLEEP STUDY for a condition known as IDIOPATHIC HYPERSOMNIA or your hypersomnia could be secondary to medication you are taking for your epilepsy. However, the epilepsy itself is highly UNLIKELY to be primarily responsible for this type of sleep phenomenon. Please rate this a 5 STAR CONSULT and write to me at: www.bit.ly/drdariushsaghafi with more questions.

Take care
