Does Circumcision Cause Pus Formation?

Hi,

My son is 5 years old and underwent circumcision 3 weeks back. I saw pus in the operated area yesterday and took him to the doctor. The doctor has prescribed Syrup Phexin and Neosporin (for local application). May I know why my son is getting infected after 3 Weeks? Thanks.

Hello
Thanks for query.

Your five years old son has undergone surgery of circumcision 3 weeks back and has developed infection at the site of suture line .

It is not uncommon to get infection of the circumcision wound .It does happen once in a while and nothing to be worried about it.

It is mainly due to tissue reaction to suture material used to suture the skin .

Please continue taking medicines prescribed by your physician
