Developed A Hard Lump In The Center Of Patella. What Is This ?
I have developed a lump in the center of my patella. You can see it when I bend and extend my knee. It is hard like bone and is painful. I have no idea how long it has been there. I noticed it this past week on vacation. It looks the size of a nickel or like I have a marble sitting there. I have had knee issues since childhood but only in my right knee. I am 39.
Generally, bony (hard) swellings arising from the patella are very rare. An xray of the knee joint will show whether its a bony swelling or not. As it is painless, it is not infective or non inflammatory in nature.
Biopsy is needed to establish its histopathological nature (benign or malignant).
So, I suggest you to consult an orthopedic surgeon for further workup and management.
Hope this information is helpful. Good day
