Hello.
i am 24 years male. i went in to depression last year due to family issues and i was under observation of doctor for 3 months . i became very week and suffered chest pain and problem in breathing. its been so long since i am discharged but i am stil facing them issues of breathing and chest pain and they are acute during morning time. please help me out i am fade off due to my bad health. i afraid that i might have got serious heart related problem. i have not opt for any health reports till now.
Hello, The chest pain and breathing problem is likely to be due to panic attack which very often happen with patients of depressive disorder. In a 24 year old patient of depression, I would not think of any serious heart problem of recent origin. To rule out any medical condition that may be causing it get an ECG (heart related problem), X ray chest PA view(lungs related problem), Complete Heamogram (Acute infection, Anemia) and ESR (chronic infection), Thyroid Function Test. I expect all test to be normal though. Try relaxation technique (deep breathing and muscle relaxation) to take care of this problem. If you don't improve with it, see your psychiatrist and restart therapy and medicines if required. Biofeedback is another option. Hope your query got answered. Feel free to ask any more queries. Take care. Regards.
