Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hello,
The chest pain and breathing problem is likely to be due to panic attack which very often happen with patients of depressive disorder. In a 24 year old patient of depression, I would not think of any serious heart problem of recent origin.
To rule out any medical condition that may be causing it get an ECG (heart related problem), X ray chest PA view(lungs related problem), Complete Heamogram (Acute infection, Anemia) and ESR (chronic infection), Thyroid Function Test. I expect all test to be normal though.
Try relaxation technique (deep breathing and muscle relaxation) to take care of this problem. If you don't improve with it, see your psychiatrist and restart therapy and medicines if required. Biofeedback is another option.
Hope your query got answered. Feel free to ask any more queries. Take care.
Regards.
