Could Weight Gain In Abdomen Be Due To Minigynon?

I start to take minigynon without it being prescribe by a doctor but upon recomendation from a pharmacist. I started to gain weight on my belly which I would like to get off. Does my boyfriend have to use a condom all time for me not to get pregnant? Does minigynon causes fibroids?

Hello,

Yes, weight gain is its side effect.

Others are:

acne, nausea, stomach pain, headache, including migraines, mood changes, including depression, breast tenderness or pain, hair loss or hair growth.

If you start using Microgynon 30 on days 1-5 of your period, you will be immediately protected against pregnancy.

If you start taking it later, use extra contraception for at least seven days until Microgynon 30 starts to work.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr AJEET SINGH, General & Family Physician
