Could Stitches On Elbow Where Skin Split Pose A Serious Issue In Case Of A Fracture?
I had a bad fall landing on my elbow on Monday morning. I have three stitches on my elbow where the skin split open. The doctor said I could have a small fracture and asked if I wanted an x-ray. I asked what they do for a fracture and he said nothing just rest the arm. I opted out of the x-ray however I'm wondering if my arm should be in a sling?

when ever doubt getting an X-Ray is always good. if you are able to move your elbow with out much discomfort than you do not need splint or immobilisation. I hope your doctor has given you pain killers and antibiotics. if your elbow hurts on movement than get an x ray , just to make sure that there is no fracture. as far as stitch and wound gaping is concern do not worry, this will heal in two weeks.
