Could I Be Pregnant After A Negative Result On The Pregnancy Test?

I took the morning after pill 36 hours after unprotected sex. I took the pill on feb 10 had a lighter period which was a week early but still 4 days long. Just to make sure I took a preg test today. My period came on the 17th of feb. Today I started light cramping and bleeding again lightly. Pregnancy test is negative though. It's been 21 days since the pill could I be pregnant?

Hi,
You are amply protected as you have taken the emergency contraception within the stipulated time. Withdrawal bleeding can be usually seen after a couple of days after using the pill. It can resemble a normal period. As the emergency pill contains excess hormone, the hormonal milieu of the body is disturbed and as such, you can expect your next normal period to get delayed by a week or two. At this juncture, you cannot expect any result from a home pregnancy test; you should get a blood test for pregnancy confirmation/exclusion. Please see a specialist for further management. Hope this helps.
