Hi i have child one year and 8 months, he gets these swellings on the legs in particular. It started a couple of months after he started walking so about 7 months ago. They come occasionally and been to a doctor who called them weals (or wheals cant quite spell it). In the last month they have come so often sometimes a new round coming on as the other disappears. I have noticed though he only gets them on the legs, basically anywhere below the knees. only once did he get one on the shoulder . what can i do i took him off eggs for a while suspecting it was the cause as it was the only unusual thing i could think that i had introduced, but they still came. Then i noticed that every time the dog had a bath he got them. However in the last week the dog hasn t had one and this morning i noticed a new round on the legs. They are itchy because he keeps scratching them. Im not sure what to do.
Hi,
Thank you for your query,
It is looking like Allergic skin reaction with Urticaria.
The cause of allergen may be some change in food, exposure to pet animals, pollen or exposed to clothes containing allergens.
Most of the times it is difficult to find out the cause and a diary should me maintained about child activity, diet, exposures to pollution and animals as it will help to find out the allergen by analyzing the history.
You can apply calamine containing lotions over skin for two to three times daily and oral antihistamines can be given in prescribed dosage to decrease the itching.
Consult your Pediatrician for evaluation and medication.
Hope i have answered your query.
