Child. Loose, Watery Stools. History Of Having Cold, No Help From Pamol. Advice
Hi there My 2 year old seems to be waking up during the night and his nappy seems to be like water when he poos. He was diagnosed with a cold a couple of weeks ago and has been having pamol but this doesn't seem to be working. Also my 1 year old has a nappy that is the same as his brothers but has developed a rash over night and has vomited through his bed after a bottle. He has had an ear infection or the last 2 weeks and is on amoxicillin but the infection seems to still be there and has had a cold for 4 weeks and also had pamol but this doesn't seem to be working. If you could offer any advice on what I should do with both of them, that would be much appreciated. Thanks Jessica
Monitor for signs of dehydration. They include 1. Decreased skin turgor 2. Increasing thirst. 3. Sunken eyes. 4. Irritability. 5. Drowsiness. 6. Decreasing passage of urine. If there is blood or mucus in the stool antibiotics prescribed by your doctor may be required.
ORS or any other fluid containing salt and sugar prevents dehydration.
Vomiting should be controlled by antiemetic prescribed by your doctor. Probiotics and zinc will help.
Amoxicillin given to your younger kid can cause increased frequency of stools and should be stopped.
Continue to ask further queries as required. Hope this helps. Take care.
