Can Tonsillectomy Be The Cause For Severe Pain In The Throat?

My throat is really painful and the back of my throat looks rather swollen. I have had tonsillitis a lot of times in the past but the antibiotics they give me never seem to work. This time, I have looked at my throat with a torch and my tonsils look like they have tears/small holes in them so I don t know what this means and will I have to have a tonsillectomy?
