Can Red Bumps In Vulva Be Symptom Of Genital Herpes?

I had unprotected sex 6 days ago and after 2 or 3 days began to experience itching, pain, and yellowish discharge coming from my vaginal area. I also found one spot that looked like a pimple with a small white head on my labia minora. I also developed a sore throat. I went to a gynecologist who told me that it did not look like genital herpes, and tested me for a yeast infection. After looking at the swab under a microscope, she confirmed it as a yeast infection. I am still finding red bumps above my vulva and white spots around my lips. I am also expecting my period any day now and am very anxious about this. I guess my question is, can it at all be genital herpes if the test for candisis came back positive?
