Can Night Sweats Be A Sign Of Diabetes?

My boyfriend who is 19 has very bad night sweats. Diabetes runs in his family and we were wondering if night sweats has any effects. The tempurature in the room is never hot and he says he dosn't feel hot but he still sweats profusely. What could be the cause to this? Should he go to a doctor?
