Can Bad Ingrown Hair On Bikini Line Which Looks Like Cold Sore Be Genital Herpes?
I got a cold sore on the corner of my mouth and I only had it for 3 days. I get really bad ingrown hairs when I shave my bikini line area (always have even before I became sexually active) and ever since I got this cold sore on my mouth, the ingrown hair is starting to look like a cold sore.. It looks like dry skin but it's not like open or anything, and it doesnt hurt... could this be genital herpes?! I read that sometimes you can get the flu along with herpes, and about 2 days ago I got a bad cold... I really don't know if this is just the ingrown hair (possibly infected) or if it is herpes.. Could it be herpes down there!? I have never had any sores down there before or any other symptoms.

Oral herpes is usually associated with herpes simplex 1 and genital herpes with herpes simplex 2 , though it is possible for herpes 1 to be found in the genitalia region and visa versa.
Genital herpes is normally painful. It starts as increased redness and discomfort in the area which progresses to the formation of small vesicles (water bumps) that are also painful.
These would then open to form small superficial painful sores/ulcers.
If you are concerned that the genital rash is due to herpes, it would be best to be screened.
This is done via a blood test done by your doctor.
This would be the only way to conclusively determine if you have this infection.
