Can Atrial Fib Be The Side Effect Of Taking Metoprolol?

I take metoprolol, losartan potassium, and nifedical plus an 81 mg aspirin daily for high blood pressure. I also experience atrial fib occasionally - lately probably once a month. What causes me to awake from sleep in the middle of the night with sudden spike of blood pressure, sometimes to near l90/80 with increased heart rate not always irregular beats or atrial fib.

Hi welcome to HCM
Metoprolol is not the cause of your Atrial fibrillation ,it is a drug which helps in decreasing heart rate.Atrial fibrillation in your case could be idiopathic.Get an ECG and 2 Dimensional Echo of your heart.Exercise regularly.Avoid fat food.Get lipid profile, complete blood picture, chest xray.Do not stop your current medications.consult you cardiologist for expert management.
Thankyou
