pls help me to understand what is the meaning of this findings in my PAP SMEAR. MICROSCOPY - the smear shows superficial epithelial cells,intermediate cells,and rare parabasal cells accompanied by inflammatory and pus cells. GENERAL CATEGORIZATION - mild inflammatory smear.thank you so much.

Hi PAP SMEAR is done in order to see if there is any change in the microscopic feature of the lining of cervix ( cervical tissue). The changes or findings in PAP smear helps us find if there is a shift in normal structure of the cells of cervix. This can range from no change to cancerous changes in simple words. In your case it shows inflammatory response which is supportive of some infection or some erosion. You need not worry about that.
