I started working at a Wastewater Treatment Plant 4 months ago. Around a month and a half ago, a piece of wire that was in influent wastewater stuck my finger through my latex gloves. Our treatment plant handles wastewater from the local prison. Around 3 weeks ago I started having pain in my right side. I thought it was from shoveling. I haven't been shoveling since then, and the pain continued and now has expanded from the right side to the right front of my abdomen just below my ribcage. It is tender when I push below my ribs and it feels like something is pushing on everything around that area. I started with what I thought was a chest cold a week and a half ago, and now I started in with hives head to toe 4 days ago. I've kept the hives down somewhat with Benadryl, but I have a huge loss of energy, still rattly cough, and the swelling (which I believe is my liver) hasn't gone down at all. My worry is that I may have contracted Hepatitis or some other form of disease/parasite from work. I've looked a lot online, and it looks like I have 90% of the HepA symptoms but am not jaundiced. I know ultimately I will need to go get checked out locally, but am curious as to what your opinion on the situation is.
