Any Suggestion To Control Hair Fall With Family History Of Alopecia?

Hello Sir,
this is mani from chennai. I am suffering from severe hair fall. I consulted dermatologist and he prescribed Logi hair capsules, Alpecin liquied, Mx-5 solution. After using the capsules and solutions for two months, hair fall somewhat reduced but again it started to fall severely. Could you please suggest me what will be the problem and the solution. There is also family history of alopecia.

Hi. Thanks for posting your concern at HCM

I would keep a possibility of Androgenetic alopecia which is usually hereditary. In my view you have been on the right prescription for this kind of hair loss.

Sometimes results take some time to show. I would advice that you stick to it. You should wait for at least 3-4 months before taking a decision whether to continue it or not.

Thinning and receding hair line in males is classical of Male pattern Androgenetic Alopecia (MAGA) also simply known as Androgenetic alopecia. Scalp hairs are genetically programmed for progressive thinning under the influence of hormones (Testosterone).

Treatment modalities include Topical Minoxodil 5% solution and oral finasteride. Their are well controlled trials and US FDA approval for them for this kind of hair loss in males.

Saw-palmetto extract is also recommended for this kind of hair loss(it is also 5 alpha reductase inhibitor) and it is claimed in a few studies that are available that it is free from the side effect of decreased libido, unlike finasteride. Their are many preparations available on prescription of a dermatologist. Logihair is one of these.

I would advice that you stick to the current prescription for another 2-3 months for the results to be visible.

take care
regards
