Alternate Medicine For HBP Other Than Chlorathalidone?

Greetings Doctor, I am currently have HBP and my Dr. has me on 40mg Lisinopril Once daily, my last visit showed a spike in my BP due to possible treatment of Low Testosterone Injection treatment. I have a Urologist monitoring my blood because of the T level treatment, my original T level was 135 with the injections if went to almost 500. Anyway my primary Dr. added the chlorthalidone to my med s to assist the lisinopril, it did help bring my BP down to the upper 120 s to lower 130 s however one of the side effects was flushing and impotence, which reading about this chlothalidone appears to be a side effect. So I went off this med for a week and my flushing and impotence disappeared. Is there another diuretic I can take that will not give me these side effects ?

hello and welcome.here is ur plan. yes you have two options either ask for another thiazide diuretic eg hydrochlorothiazide 15 mg or increase the dose of lisinopril. plus I wouldn't be worried at a transien 130 or 140 spikein BP. U CAN EITHER GET 24 HOUR AMBULATORY BP MONITOR FOR A DAY TO CONFIRM IF THE BP HAS INDEED RISEN IN THIS TIME. THANX
