After C Section Irregular Heart Beats, Low BP. Tests Normal. Family History Of Heart Problem. Worry? What Is Afib?

Hi, Im a 31 year old female. I just had a baby girl on may 3rd of this year. During my c section my blood pressure drops very low and I had irregular heart beats. They were able to control them but they observe me and did 3 ekg and a sonogram of the heart everything was fine, but was reffered to see a cardiologyst. I had complain before of chest pain in the past but my old dr had said that my chest cavity was inflamated and the ekg where ok. So I stop saying anything, but I do have a faster heart beat. Should I be worried, Im 5'4 and normal wt is 159lbs now my wt is 175 lbs. Family have a long history of heart problem should i be worried? What is afib?

Hi thanks for posting your query on Healthcare Magic
Your actual problem is faster heart rate, what I understand is you are having palpitation that is subjective feeling of own heart rate which is most the time fast but may be normal. If you count your own pulse in that episode then you will come to know whether you are having fast heart rate or not. There are so many reasons for palpitation few are anxiety, hyperthyroidism and heart disease.
Again in heart disease there are many conditions which cause fast heart rate but I will tell you about Atrial Fibrillation (AF) in which you are interested. AF is irregularly irregular heart rate may be fast. To recognise AF we require 12 lead ECG and according to certain criteria doctor diagnose rhythm AF. Of Course for further workup echocardiography (sonography) of heart is required.
If you find ECG is normal then perhaps anxiety or hyperthyroidism could be cause of your palpitation (fast heart rate)
Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.
