18 Month Child, Nasal Congestion, Worse At Night, Lump Under Jaw, Constipation. Medicines Ineffective. Advise?
My daughter is 18 months old. She has nasal congestion for more than 2 weeks. But she doesn't have cough or running nose. She has lump under jaw near throat. She is constipated. We consulted a doctor before a week, he gave some medicines and it didn't work for her. Still she is suffering from nasal congestion and she couldn't breathe properly at nights (even during day time but it is worse while sleeping). what could be the problem? is the lump normal?
Coming to the issue of nasal congestion you can give an oral antihistamine syrup after getting prescription from your pediatrician.
If there is nasal block you can put nasoclear nasal drops 1 or 2 into each nostril and clean the nostrils.
The lump under jaw near throat is looking like an enlarged lymph node which is commonly seen with throat infections but needs physical examination by the doctor.
Constipation in children around this age is due to lack of dietary fiber in the diet. Give dietary fiber rich food like vegetables, leafy vegetables, and fruits in her regular diet.
Give plenty of oral fluids to drink.
Consult the pediatrician for physical examination and for prescription of appropriate medication.
